Our mini-classes offer an in depth focus on a specific theme. Students will experience new materials and techniques in detail, through painting, drawing and more. Themes change often, so there’s always something new to experience.

Manga Madness

Ages: 8-14

It's time to draw Manga at Thrive!

Do you love drawing and painting Japanese style cartoons and comics? We designed this 6 week Manga class just for you! Join the fun and embrace your inner cartoonist! Create your own story in a personal sketchbook showcase your favorite faces, hairstyles, and outfits in the Japanese Manga style. Explore different ways to use markers, watercolor and colored pencils. Make clay sculptures of your favorite characters and you'll have your own figures to match your story! Bring your imaginations to this wildly fun class!

Comics Club New!

Ages: 6-10

Love reading comic books? What about creating one of your own? We designed this 6 week Comics class for all aspiring artists out there! Join the fun and embrace your inner cartoonist! You will learn all tips and tricks of comics drawing and create your own story in a personal sketchbook. Our well-balanced curriculum will let you explore different ways to use markers, watercolor, colored pencils and other high quality drawing mediums. Bring your imaginations to this wildly fun class!

Our Lady of the Lake Explore Art

Ages: 6-12

In this engaging class students will draw favorite animals, characters, still life, vehicles and more while learning fundamental art elements: line, shape, texture, color, value and space. Our fun projects are geared towards developing drawing and painting skills within each theme, while also encouraging individual creativity and expression. While many of the projects are guided, each student works with his or her own vision and produces a unique finished piece. Please note: this class is a part of Our Lady of the Lake after school program, all kids will stay at school campus during class time.
